Random US Military Insignia/Patch

Random US Military Insignia/Patch

Note: Each listing is for one patch selected at random. There is genuinely no way to predict what you'll receive. Some patches may show minor defects in embroidery or have missing text. Duplicates are possible when ordering more than five. You may receive non-military patches, like Boy Scout examples.

Random US Military Insignia Patch

America's military has produced a staggering variety of embroidered cloth insignia over the past century, and almost none of it was designed with a collector in mind. Unit patches, rank chevrons, service stripes, name tapes, division crests, and branch insignia were made to be sewn on a uniform and forgotten, which is exactly what makes tracking them down interesting.

These patches span roughly from the Korean War era through the early 2000s, with the bulk coming from Vietnam-era and Desert Storm production. What arrives could be a shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) from any Army division; the 1st Infantry, 82nd Airborne, 101st, 4th Infantry, or any of dozens of others. It might be Navy rating badges, Air Force specialty insignia, collar tabs, a service stripe, or a name tape from a soldier's dress uniform. Occasionally the lot includes civilian crossover pieces: Boy Scout merit badges, JROTC shoulder patches, or vintage American flag patches.

Patch collecting is one of the deeper rabbit holes in military surplus. Many insignia were produced in small runs for specific units or short deployments, making certain examples genuinely scarce finds. You may receive something common. You may receive something excellent. That uncertainty is the whole point.

Construction is standard US military specification: embroidered twill base with a merrowed (overlock-stitched) edge. Most are iron-on or sew-on compatible.
